Early Life to Matriculation
Prof. Tabu Ram Taid was born in the remote village of Ghunasuti in 1942. Despite the devastating 1950 earthquake washing away his village and driving his family to penury, he completed his matriculation in 1958.

Post Matriculation to MA
Sponsored by the Ramakrishna Mission, he graduated from Calcutta University and completed his MA from Delhi University, followed by postgraduate linguistics studies at the University of Reading and distance education studies in London.
Professional Life & Administration
An eminent professor at Cotton College, he was selected for the IFS in 1970 and rose to high-ranking educational administrative roles in Assam, serving as Founding Director of ABILAC and Chairman of SEBA.
Music and Movies
He was the first solo Mising singer for All India Radio and directed the first Mising audio LP, 'Asi Jili Jiliko'. He also wrote the screenplay for Bhupen Hazarika's telefilm 'Miri Jiori'.
Awards and Honours
Conferred with the title of 'Agom Migang' in 2007. Recipient of the Sahitya Akademi Bhasha Samman Award (2010), the Sukapha Award (2011-12), and the Basudev Jalan Award.

Featured Event2025 Taburam Taid Memorial Literary Awards Concluded
The Taburam Taid Memorial Trust successfully organized the inaugural Taburam Taid Memorial Literary Awards on 1 August 2025 at Gogamukh, Dhemaji. The event also marked the release of the Taburam Taid Souvenir Collection and brought together eminent writers, scholars, and literary personalities from across Assam.
