Our Vision
The long-term vision of the Taburam Taid Memorial Trust is to establish itself as a premier cultural and research institution dedicated to the preservation, promotion, and enrichment of the heritage of indigenous communities of North-East India.
Inspired by the life and scholarship of Late Tabu Ram Taid, the Trust envisions a society where:
- Indigenous languages, dialects, and folklore are systematically documented, preserved, and kept alive for future generations.
- Academic research in ethnology, art, and language receives proper structural and financial support.
- Cultural archives, museums, and libraries act as active, community-driven centers of learning and digital heritage preservation.
- The life-work of Late Tabu Ram Taid serves as a catalyst for educational and cultural empowerment among tribal communities of Assam.
Our Mission
The mission of the Taburam Taid Memorial Trust is to translate Late Tabu Ram Taid’s intellectual legacy into concrete actions that benefit the community and researchers alike.
Our immediate mission focuses on:
- Active Documentation: Recording oral histories, songs, and linguistic variations of the Mising community and other ethnic communities of Assam.
- Empowering Researchers: Providing institutional support, fellowships, and library resources to scholars doing original work in North-East Indian ethnology.
- Public Education: Organizing seminars, exhibitions, and digital tours to bridge the gap between academic research and public knowledge.
- Digital Preservation: Upgrading the Tabu Ram Taid Memorial Museum and Library to host digital archives accessible globally.
- Linguistic Development: Running dictionary and grammar workshops to aid the teaching and reading of regional tribal languages.
