The inaugural Taburam Taid Memorial Literary Awards ceremony was successfully conducted on 1 August 2025 at Gogamukh, Dhemaji district, Assam. Organized by the Taburam Taid Memorial Trust, this landmark event celebrated the profound literary, linguistic, and cultural legacy of Late Prof. Tabu Ram Taid by honoring three towering figures who have made exceptional contributions to Assamese and Mising literature.
The ceremony brought together prominent authors, traditional scholars, leaders of the Mising community, and educational visionaries from across North East India, serving as a vital forum for linguistic preservation.

The Trust established three prestigious categories of awards to recognize literary merit, academic scholarship, and lifetime contributions.
1. Taburam Taid Memorial Literary Award (Assamese)
- Recipient: Padmashri Yese Dorjee Thongchi
- Significance: Conferred for outstanding contributions to Assamese literature. An eminent novelist and former bureaucrat, Thongchi has built bridges between different communities of Northeast India through his writings in Assamese, capturing the socio-cultural fabric of Arunachal Pradesh and Assam.
2. Taburam Taid Memorial Mising Literary Award
- Recipient: Dr. Bidyeswar Doley
- Significance: Conferred for exemplary work in the study, enrichment, and lexicography of the Mising language, promoting standardized orthography in alignment with the goals set forth by Prof. Tabu Ram Taid.
3. Taburam Taid Memorial Lifetime Achievement Literary Award
- Recipient: Late Pankaj Kumar Dutta (Conferred Posthumously)
- Significance: Honoring a lifetime of dedicated service, scholarship, and writings that preserved regional histories and supported the core mission of institutional language teaching.
